There will be a BAS members' meet for the July month, at our regular venue Cubbon Park on Sunday the 13th.

Agenda includes the general meetup with members. Probable new topics include discussion about steps to preserve light pollution at Hosahalli, invitation of a professional to give a presentation, locations for future sky-observing trips etc.

I would like to also present my newly purchased astronomical equipment for our future BAS observing trips - a Celestron SkyMaster 20x80 big astro binocular! Expecting to have a good turn up. Bring your friends interested in astronomy along.

Behind the main red building of City Central Library, and beside the Indira Priyadarshini Children's Library, in the main circular park.

BAS will be organizing a visit to the Gauribidanur Observatory on Saturday. The purpose of the visit is to find out more about radio telescopes, understand the details of its construction and operation, and help us to eventually build one.

NOTE: This event is restricted to interested participants with some elementary background in Radio Astronomy, such as the working principles behind antennae, basics of astronomy, concepts of interferometry and an understanding of how data from a radio telescope is visualized, on the request of the authorities.

Attendees: Almost all council members, and a lot of other members attended this meeting.

This meeting saw two new members - Pravin and Shyam. We had an introduction session, everyone introducing themselves to the gathering.

This was followed with a discussion about the plans for the trip to Kaundinya Wildlife Sanctuary, with Amar Sharma explaining the purpose of the programme. We gathered a good number of suggestions for potential observing locations from the group. A lot of people confirmed their participation in the event.

This was followed by a discussion about selling our astrophotos, and various intricacies involved in executing such plans.
