Visibility of Milky way : Yes, Good.
It's not good..it's "excellent" at times!!! Milky-Way thickness goes to around 20 degrees at times and dark-rifts and lanes cutting through it are seen in many parts of Milky-Way..strangely even in some regions never thought of!!!
An important factor in astronomical observations for judging the darkness of a place is forgotten to be mentioned by the author in the above description of the site : Zodiacal light (ZL). Here few of us observers have seen Zodiacal lights both in morning and evening skies, but mainly the morning one. It gets so bright at times that it's easily mistaken and believed upon to be some nearby light source being switched on and spreading up!! At one time the evening ZL was seen to spread upto easily *more than* 50-60 degrees in altitude by me and another observer!!!
Overall this site is really excellent for astronomical observations, except for the very bad lights from the nearby town Dodballapur in South, and in North and East they are due to some local human inhabitation far away...zenith is *excellent*. If these are cured then the skies are "exotic" and unbelieveable and maybe easily mag. 6+ as we've seen during the power cuts there..pitch black!! Sure will sustain our observations for yet a few years to come if not for those darned local lights..!!!
