Hello Astrobrat (Rakesh),
You dont know how overjoyed I am at seeing this article posted by you!! I mean I have tried to collect as much possible info on comet discoveries and statistics in my computer that any further addition is just a boon to my collection! My obsession with comets is not limited to only the celestial bodies..it's also extended to gathering their stories and as much info about them! It looks like this is a very new article (as is dated March 29, that's today!). 'Coz I had never come across it in the past.
How did you get this article from and where?? I somehow was in contact over email with the legend Don Machholz himself for a few days!!! There I also used to ask him where do I get such similar comet discovery stories; I had collected two of his stories in the past, one widely available of the famous Comet C/2004 Q2 Machholz and some other one way back in 1985! There in one email dated 21 Jan. he had told me the following statement:
You did a good job of finding my two comet discoveries stories, I have written discovery stories for 1978L, 1985e (at Riverside), 1986e, and C/2004 Q2. Two are unpublished, but the Astronomy Magazine website will have my 1986e story in a couple of months. Some of the details about my 1978L story is in my book: "A Decade of Comets".
So that means he was refering to this article itself! How blessed am I to be informed by the comet legend himself..the man Don Machholz!!
Do post more of such comet stories as and when anyone gets them. Thanking You. A comet-devotee...Amar! (Aspiring to be a successful comet hunter like Don Machholz someday!!)
