BAS has planned a meeting on the upcoming Sunday 2nd August, at our regular place, Cubbon Park (see Our Venues for details). There hasn't been one in months, and it's a good excuse to catch-up.

Please feel free to bring in interested friends, and any topics you would want to discuss or put forth. And future observing sessions and projects.

I propose there is a casual Moon / city observing session for those interested, following that. Clouds generally dont affect Lunar and informal observations.

We would try to arrange a telescope for the same. However, this would be somewhere in South Bangalore (mostly J.P.Nagar). Looking forward for your maximum participation.

Today ( 1st Dec 2008 ) the planets Venus and Jupiter appeared to be close to each other along with Moon. ( looking like a smiley face " :) "

This is not a "physical" get together - only a "visual" alignment from our terrestrial perspective.
In fact moon is going to occult Venus that night but the even will not be visible from India.

Watch out for a similar event during 30.Dec.2008
