Day 1 : Report:
Bangalore Astronomical Society started its 30 non-stop sidewalk astronomy Marathon today at Forum mall in koramangala, Bangalore.
Insipte of bad clouds, volunteers of BAS were ready with the telescopes. from 7 pm till 9:30 pm there was hardly any window to see moon or Jupiter, though we managed to show about 50 people moon. Bad skies spoiled the show. Disappointingly we were thinking of packing the telescopes.
When we were about to pack the telescopes, we noticed that the clouds started moving fast and moon was visible. Jupiter was out of sight :(
It was the time for second show movie to close down., hence within a few min over 200 people saw moon through ( two telescopes ). finally we had to call off the day at 10:40 pm and pack our telescopes when the thick clouds reappeared.
BAS volunteers were very much satisfied and most of the wow ! was heard by the public while seeing moon. Many people who were interested in Astronomy but didn't know where to start or whom to contact were interested in joining BAS and participating in its activities.
Volunteers during today's sidewalk : Naveen Nanjundappa, Vivek Y, Achyut, Viswakeerthy, Keerthy kiran, Suma and Pravin S.
Telescopes used : 6 inch dob. 8 inch equ.
Public headcount : Approx 250
Time : 7:00 PM - 10:40 PM.

Awwhhh.. I know the feeling, right? Sometimes it is really discouraging to feel these kinds of things. When you have prepared so much for something, yet it the end, what you've prepared for ended to no avail. ab belt
We had the best skies so far in Bangalore today since 3 days, partial clouds but hardly any problem to see Jupiter and Moon. Today sidewalk was conducted at 3 different places in Bangalore.
Cumulative from 3 sidewalks today, about 500 people peeped through telescope to see Jupiter and moon, sidewalk astronomy were held at Jayanagar 4th Block, Malleshwaram and Hebbal Kempapura!
A lot of people gathered to look through the telescope and every one was eager to look at Jupiter and moon.
While telescope kept at Malleshwaram had some stability problem, we had to stop the sidewalk unfortunately. But Hebbal and Jayanagar performed very well.
Jayanagar ( 220 people, 6 inch dob, 6:30PM-9:30PM, Moon & Jupiter, Volunteers: Shyam and Gautham )
Malleshwaram ( 10 people, 2 inch, 7:00PM-7:20PM, Moon, Volunteer: Vivek )
Hebbal Kempapura ( 280 people, 6 inch, 7:00PM-8:40PM, Jupiter, Volunteer: Naveen Nanjundappa, Akash )
On its 3rd day, BAS hits an approximate 1000 headcount during its sidewalk night, with such weather conditions. which has given BAS volunteers a great motivation to go ahead in this sidewalk marathon.
Meet you all again at Malleshwaram @ 6PM on 5th Oct.

Cloudy skies ! but no one can stop the passion of BAS volunteers to conduct a sidewalk astronomy night, we expected the weather to be far better than yesterday. Even though it was not good, it was far better than yesterday and more 60 people watched Jupiter and its moon, rest had to settle seeing Earth's Moon.
Response was excellent and we had lots of people willing to join BAS and get into regular astronomy, we had a few guest lecture requests for schools, a few people were interested to even know how we formed and what motivated to do all this stuff as NPO.
Many appreciated the effort of BAS and its volunteers too.
Over all BAS volunteer response to today's event, "it was worth all the effort we had put on today's sidewalk astronomy night."
